Franklin Lakes, NJ – Michael Petrino, vice president of PTS Data Center Solutions, was featured in the December 14, 2007 issue of Processor magazine (Vol.29, Issue 50). In the article “Wireless Monitors: The Latest Twist On Environmental Monitoring,” Petrino talks about the benefits of using high-end, multi-sensor monitors for data center monitoring.
These monitors are quick to alert IT to any problems so they can be rectified quickly and hopefully without any major interruption to the data center. Petrino emphasizes the importance of installing these systems as a preventative measure because too often IT departments wait until they have a problem before they install a monitoring system. Then they install a lower quality system that does not monitor the full range of potential problems that could plague them in the future. He highlights that, “You can learn a lot of things [by monitoring multiple factors],” and suggests “deploying a monitoring system that can track conditions in each data center room, row, and cabinet cooling zone.”
The article continues on to provide information on the other roles these high-end data center monitoring systems can fill, such as providing the status of critical applications, remote servers, and bandwidth. To read the full article, please visit the Processor website (http://www.processor.com/).
